Could cell phones be a good thing for students to have in schools, or are they just as bad as everyone says? Cell phones can be used for a lot of good things, but there are also many bad uses in school. Students could use their phones to text answers between eachother, which is wrong and, in every way, cheating. Students can have the ability to record the teachers and try to get them in trouble, which is violating the teachers privacy. It is very unlikely for students but they could also arrange a drug deal between people, which is against the law. Students could communicate with eachother to arrange a fight between people. Students could also be arranging a bomb threat. This is very unlikely but is possible. Students could also become very distracted by having side conversations with each other during class. Bruce Schneier, a sercurity officer and author, believes that kids should be able to have cell phones on them in school if parents need to contact them during an emergency. He says that parents should be able to directly contact their children just in case. Cell phones can be used for many good things, but they can also be used for many bad things. These are some of the reasons that cell phones have not been taken into the school buildings just yet. Although, according to some oppinions, they could be coming.
